Lucy studied Business Administration and believed that would be her career. However, her life changed significantly after having her first child. Her son began to have behavioral difficulties at a young age. Helping her child became Lucy’s primary focus. By first grade, her son was being evaluated for special education services and was found eligible. After being a stay-at-home mom for 4 years and going through a difficult divorce she began searching for a job. Her experiences with her son opened the door to work at a school for students with autism and other disabilities. Once there, Lucy realized she found her calling—her passion. Now, Lucy has a Master’s in Special Education and is a Behavior Analyst. Lucy is a champion of students with unique learning needs. She begins each day with the goal of making children’s lives better. She wants them to be part of the community and to live independently. Lucy’s ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities.
